New Homes or Additions

Fire Prevention Requirements

The Fire Prevention Office requires a plan review prior to building or adding onto your home. You need to submit the following via the online permitting portal:

  • A set of marked plans – they must show the locations of smoke and heat detectors. This department no longer marks plans. Your architect or electrician should know how to mark your plans.
  • Payment to the Town of Mansfield via the online permitting portal in the amount of $50 per new home or addition.

You will receive notification of approval or denial via the online portal.

Review Procedure

The Fire Prevention office usually reviews the plans and permit within a few days if time allows. However, please bear in mind that Chapter 9 of the State Building Code allows ten working days for plan review.  We make every effort to review plans as quickly as possible.
