Department of Planning & Zoning
The Planning Department provides technical and administrative support to the Mansfield Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and various Boards and Commissions to implement Mansfield’s master plan. The Planning Department is responsible for all aspects of community planning, land-use application/review, and ensuring development compliance as permitted and conditioned by the Planning Board, while the Building Inspector ensures compliance of Mansfield's zoning rules and regulations.
The Planning Department makes every effort to inform, educate and assist decision-making bodies and the public in all elements of land use planning and permitting per State law and local by-laws within its authority. While there are diverse and competing interests within the community, the Planning Department understands the necessity to consider and incorporate these interests within the planning process by encouraging and facilitating participation, along with meaningful dialogue throughout the planning and permitting process.
