Last night, April 10, 2009, a question was raised as to why we’re insuring town vehicles that are old and carrying Comprehensive and Collision Coverage for vehicles that are worthless! Below is a per vehicle charge for Liability, Comprehensive and Collision coverage. While the Comprehensive Coverage and Collision coverage is minimal, a very good point was raised regarding ways in which we can save. I will be working with our insurance agent to eliminate Comprehensive Coverage and Collision Coverage on vehicles (Automobiles) over a certain number of years. Attleboro uses a policy of grater than 10 years. We will look into this and make the changes as necessary and appropriate.

Below is the composite rate charge for each and every vehicle insured. Whether it’s an old, minimal valued vehicle or a new costly ladder truck, this is the per vehicle charge to the Town. As you can see, the premium charge is extremely low and the total premium per vehicle is probably lower than what you and most pay for COLLISION only on our personal auto policy.

Liability $252.78
Comprehensive $28.70
Collision $67.04
TOTAL $348.52

FTE's for the Mansfield Fire Department

The following needs to be explained.

When we completed our documentation for printing, all parties reviewed the material. We later found out that the FTE's for the Mansfield Fire Department are not 25 but 37. This will change our entire FTE count as a result, we will repost the FTE report once we make this change. The following information deals with the need to have a span of control that does not exceed 5 personnel per supervisor. The back-up information and detail including the reorganization plan is attached for your review.
