The Mansfield Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is charged with the overall “Emergency Preparedness Planning” for the Town of Mansfield. This includes the coordination of all resources of the Town, public and private, professional and volunteer, to avert or combat the effects of disaster. A pool of trained volunteers is provided to the Town in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
The Mansfield Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is a group of trained volunteers that provide to the Town of Mansfield in both emergency and non-emergency operations. The Emergency Operations Center is located at 35 County Street in Mansfield, MA. This location houses our communications and operations center as well as training and meeting rooms located on the second floor and our communications center located on the first floor of this facility. Also at this location is the fleet of emergency vehicles which consist of eight units for communications, emergency transport, Shelter Operations, Special operations, mobile power and lighting units.
The Agency is divided into five operational units and members may belong to one or more of these units: Operations, Administration, Communications, Engineering and Medical.
Operations: Review and update the emergency plans and resource inventories for the town. Also provides operational support during events.
Medical: EMTs and first aiders who provide volunteer services at various events. Active members receive CPR and First Aid training. Continuing education credit is also available for active members who are EMTs.
Communications: Amateur and Citizen Band Radio Operators who provide communications during events. For those with an interest in Amateur Radio, we will provide classes to help you obtain your license.
Engineering: Provide equipment maintenance and acquisition.
Administrative: Management of the affairs of the organization and day to day clerical operations.
Volunteers are always welcome. MEMA will provide any required training including CPR, First Aid, Shelter Management, Amateur Radio Licensing, Hazardous Materials, and Computer Training.
