Hazardous Waste Collection

Sponsored by the
Town of Mansfield Board of Health

When: :  Saturday, April 10    8:00AM to 1:00PM (Closing earlier if funds depleted.)

    Where: ComCast Center for the Performing Arts, South Main  Street 

    Who: Residents only, proof of residency required

 How do I transport materials?
  • Bring materials in original containers  securely closed.
  • Pack containers in sturdy upright boxes  and pad with newspaper if necessary.
  • Leaking or broken containers must  be contained.
  • Never smoke or eat while handling  hazardous materials.
  • Never mix chemicals together!
     
  • Please! Do not leave your vehicle unless instructed to do so.

What to bring

Household hazardous waste limited to 5 gallons or 50 pounds  per household.

Examples:

  • Oil or oil based paints and strippers
  • Paint thinner, solvents
  • Stains and varnishes
  • Solvent adhesives
  • Lighter fluid
  • Waste fuels: kerosene and gasoline
  • Antifreeze
  • Engine degreaser, carburetor cleaner
  • Brake fluid, transmission fluid
  • Pesticides, insecticides, weed killer
  • Moth balls, flea powder
  • Resins, adhesives
  • Rubber cement, airplane glue
  • Hobby supplies, art supplies
  • Photo chemicals, chemistry sets
  • Furniture, floor and metal polish
  • Oven and toilet cleaners
  • Drain cleaners
  • Rug and Upholstery cleaner
  • Dry cleaning solvents, spot removers
  • Aerosol cans
  • Pool chemicals
  • Automobile and truck batteries
  • LP gas cylinders (grill size only) $5 each
  • Used motor oil

  • Penta brand wood preservatives
  • Pesticides with 2,4,5-T, Silvex
  • Commercial or industrial waste
  • Non-rechargeable household batteries
  • Fluorescent bulbs
  • Used Motor Oil, Tires and Latex Paint notes:

Used motor oil and tires can be brought to  the Mansfield Green Recycling Center on East Street for disposal Mondays and  Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

*If you have latex paint  to discard, an inexpensive latex hardener can be purchased from the local  hardware and paint stores. This will enable you to dispose of the paint at  your convenience, through year round, normal trash pickup.
