BINS

Bins may be obtained at the DPW Office at Town Hall during regular business hours.

Residents may purchase compost bins at the Town Hall for $18.00 per bin.

BIN COLLECTION SCHEDULE

Recycling bins are picked up every week on your regular trash collection day. Please put your bins curbside by 7:00 AM, placed at least (3) feet apart from your solid waste cart.

THE MANSFIELD GREEN

The Town operates a recycling park and compost facility at the intersection of Route 106 and East Street. The facility is open on Saturdays and Mondays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Green/Compost Area accepts glass, # 1 trough #7 plastic, newspapers, cardboard, white goods, clothing, tin, metals and yard waste. On Mondays the Green also accepts used motor oil. Residents may obtain a sticker to access the facility at the Town Clerk's Office during regular business hours.

Resident Sticker Requirements at Mansfield Green

 Mansfield Green sticker are required, the cost is $10.00 and will allow both resident parking at the Mansfield Train Station and the use of Mansfield Green. To obtain a sticker you must present your registration for the vehicle on which the sticker will be placed, at the Town Clerks Office.. Stickers are not available at the Green. For additional information, please contact the Town Clerk's Office at 508-261-7345.

Special Stickers

The following items to be dropped off at the Mansfield Green will require special stickers.

  • CRT’s, computers, TV’s, tires, propane tanks require1 sticker

  • White Goods containing Freon (refrigerators, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, etc.) require two (2) stickers.

Special stickers cost $5.00 each and may be purchased at the treasurer’s office at town hall during regular business hours and at the Mansfield Green on Saturdays and Mondays.  No cash will be accepted at the green-checks only.
Nobody will be admitted to the green without a valid resident sticker

HOLIDAY COLLECTIONS

There will be no pickup on the following holidays.

New Year's Day
Memorial Day
July 4th
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

Pickup will be delayed one day on weeks that the above holidays fall
 

Bulky Items and White Goods Collections

Residents are required to schedule White Goods and Bulky item curbside pickups. "Bulky" refers to items that cannot fit into the 64-gallon trash cart such as furniture, box springs, mattresses, desks, chairs, etc. White Goods are any appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, dryers, dishwashers, etc. Bulky Items are required to have a "Bulky Item" sticker affixed to the item. White Goods are required to have a "White Goods" sticker affixed to them. The cost for these sticker is: White Goods $15.00 and Bulky Items $10.00. Stickers can be purchased at the Treasurer's Office at Town Hall or by contacting the DPW Office at (508) 261-7335. Residents can schedule the collection by contacting Waste Management at 1 800 972-4545.

Bulky Items and White Goods will not be collected unless residents schedule a pickup in advance and have the proper sticker attached to the item.

Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Recycling Notice (Computer Monitors, Televisions, etc.)

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) prohibits the disposal of cathode ray tubes (CRTs) from television and computer monitors at all Massachusetts disposal facilities.   CRT's must be taken to the Mansfield Green for recycling. They will not be picked up at curbside.

 


TO PROPERLY PREPARE YOUR RECYCLABLES FOR PICKUP, 
PLEASE REMEMBER TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

Set your recyclables out at the curb, at. least 3 feet from your solid waste cart, on your regular trash day.

Place glass, plastic, aluminum and metal cans in your bin. It is not necessary to sort these items. If you need additional space flatten or nest large plastic containers and metal cans, or place extra recyclables in a clearly marked box next to your bin. Place newspaper and magazines on top of or beside your bin or in another bin.

Do not include

Clear, green, brown glass bottles and jars only. Rinse clean. Remove lids, corks, neck rings, collars, etc. Labels are OK. No material on glass other than paper labels. No broken glass. No other glass item.

Plastic containers # 1 through #7 marked on the bottom with any of these symbols. Rinse clean. Remove lids, neck rings and detergent bottle spouts. Containers may be crushed or nested. labels OK. No unmarked items. No film. No plastic bags.

Aluminum, tin and bi-metal cans, plus aluminum trays and pie plates. Rinse clean. Cans may be flattened or nested. Labels are OK. No bottle or jar lids. No foil. No other aluminum item. No cans with plastic parts. No paint or aerosol cans. No other metal item

Newspapers, office paper, envelopes, junk mail, magazines and catalogs regardless of thickness. Tie with string or place in brown PAPER grocery bags. No soiled newspapers, or any other paper item. No plastic grocery bags.
 

Cardboard, boxboard, i.e., cereal, tissue, pizza boxes, etc. Flatten cardboard boxes. No pieces larger than 
2' x 2'.
No waxed cardboard, 
i.e., milk cartons.
